Biography: Having writing embedded in my genes, from my mother and my dad’s father, I wrote the first draft of this novel during high school summer vacation, hence the youth of most of my characters. A serious lack of mentors, but heavy concerns regarding ecology and prejudice, undoubtedly led to this book, but thank the Universe I knew to set it aside until I studied a lot more science, for an accurate SF novel. I earned two science degrees at U.C. Davis, including a D.V.M., which supported my writing habit. During college summer breaks I went on long backpacks in the Sierra Nevada, so I experienced real adventures. I have also defied death at least four times to finish this novel, so it must be important. I now live in Eugene, Oregon, with my husband, Brian, and I have published two short stories and one novella about my grown up main character (Dr. Tajen Jesmuhr) in Analog Science Fiction and Fact magazine.
